If you happened to look at Nick Foles’ stats and the Philadelphia Eagles’ record, you probably wouldn’t notice much of a problem.

Through five games the Eagles sit a very impressive 4-1 while Nick Foles has thrown for eight touchdowns in those five contests. All is good, right? Well, not technically as the quarterback has struggled to complete passes this season, only hitting on 59 percent of his attempts.

That won’t fly and it has created some cause for concern for head coach Chip Kelly, though deems the issue fixable. So what exactly is behind the poor passes? According to Kelly, it’s the footwork of Foles as he’s throwing off of his back foot far too much.

We’ve all seen that when a quarterback throws off his back foot it often leads to poor accuracy which also leads to interceptions. That has proven to be a bit of an issue for Nick Foles as he’s throw five picks but more shockingly has also fumbled the ball four times (losing it three).

Needless to say the poor passing and lack of ball security can’t continue to happen as it seems the Philadelphia Eagles have dodged a bit of a bullet given their 4-1 record behind Foles’ struggles. Of course, playing the Washington Redskins, St. Louis Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars in three of their first five games also helped build up their record.

The Philadelphia Eagles currently sit tied atop first place in the NFC East alongside the Dallas Cowboys who are also 4-1.
