Paul Pierce thinks Washington Wizards can make NBA Finals
By Bryan Rose
Although it’s been suggested Paul Pierce decided to sign with the Washington Wizards because of John Wall, that isn’t the only reason.

Believing the Washington Wizards to have one of the better rosters in the Eastern Conference (which they do), Pierce feels Washington has a chance to play in the NBA Finals.
“After LeBron said he was going back to Cleveland, the dynamics of the Eastern Conference, with Indiana, I was like, this is a team that could be in the Eastern Conference finals, or possibly the Finals, based on what’s here. And adding me to some of the other veterans they added, I was like, why not?”
While Pierce’s Washington Wizards are likely to be a top-five seed in the Eastern Conference at minimum, getting to the NBA Finals would suggest they got past either the Cleveland Cavaliers or Chicago Bulls who are expected to be the two dominant Eastern Conference teams.
Granted, anything is possible though on paper you have to believe both the Cavs and Bulls would be the favored team. Of course, games aren’t played on paper and we’ve seen some rather shocking upsets in the NBA (even in recent years) so it’s not outlandish to think the Washington Wizards could be a serious threat.
Both the Cavaliers and Bulls have their own question marks (gelling for the Cavs, Derrick Rose’s health for the Bulls) so it’s not as if either of them have their ticket written to the NBA Finals, so it’s understandable as to where Paul Pierce is coming from even if it would take a bit of luck for Washington to reach the finals.
For what it’s worth, Pierce wasn’t going any further beyond his prediction and didn’t say if they’d actually bring home the Larry O’Brien trophy.
