Round 2 of the Shanghai Masters get underway on Wednesday, with a mouth-watering day of tennis on show. The top 8 seeds all received byes through the First Round and will make their first appearances in Shanghai in an action packed day.
Roger Federer returns to competitive actin for the first time since the Davis Cup, whilst Rafael Nadal will look to put his shock loss to Martin Klizan in Beijing last week behind him and continue his return from injury. Novak Djokovic will look to continue his winning run and sparkling form in Asia.
The hunt for places in the Top 8 in the Race are well and truly underway, with a number of players looking for wins to boost their points total come the end of the season. The only contender to have fallen so far in Marin Cilic, who went down in 3 sets to Ivo Karlovic. The remainder of the contenders will be looking to avoid a similar result in Round 2.

Gilles Simon will be looking to upset an out of form Stan Wawrinka in the opening match. Local Nishikori gets his Shanghai bid underway against American Jack Sock who beat Bernard Tomic in Round 1. Then the Big Three open their accounts in Shanghai and will all be expected to make serene progress into the Third Round.

Grandstand is the scene for the ATP World Tour Final contenders who are all chasing spots at the prestigious event in London. All the seeded players in action are still in the hunt and will be hoping the others slip up. Martin Klizan is in-form and looks like a possible surprise winner against David Ferrer. Similarly Jerzy Janowicz pushed Andy Murray to three close sets in Beijing last week and will look to go one better and win. Gasquet and Monaco respectively are not to be taken lightly by Berdych and Raonic, but you would expect the big servers to make it through to the Third Round.
