Arsenal are after Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira in January
Reports linking Germany and Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira to Arsenal have intensified recently, with some sources even claiming a deal has been agreed between the two clubs. Khedira looks set to move from Real Madrid having fallen out of favor with coach Carlo Ancelotti. At 27 years old, he still represents a quality option for a top club and it is no surprise that Arsenal are hunting him seriously.

A £15 million price tag has apparently been placed on Khedira, who will demand a hefty £100,000 a week in wages. You would argue that given his performances in recent years he is more than worth this gamble. He has played at the very highest level and despite recent injuries which have curtailed his progression, he is still a prize asset.
Arsenal look like they are leading the hunt for Khedira and he would be a perfect fit in their squad. Khedira operates as a defensive midfielder and is adept at breaking up play and distributing the ball forwards. Currently Arsenal rely on Mathieu Flamini for this role, an area which they must been keen to improve upon soon. Flamini has often looked out of his depth having returned for a second stint at the London club, struggling with this temperament more than anything.
Man United also have an interest in the German midfielder, with their much talked about defensive issues stemming from a lack of a deep lying midfielder to provide the first shield to their defense. £15 million is likely to be within the budgets of both English sides and it would be great to see them battle it out for Khedira’s signature.
If Khedira is to move to the Premier League is January, you would imagine he will take a bit of time to get up to the required level of match sharpness. He has only made two appearances for Real Madrid this season and before that he missed a big chunk of the end of last season due to injury. The demands of the Premier League have caught out players before, who are used to the slower pace of other leagues.
He would be a welcome addition to the Premier League, who are always looking to attract the top talent from around the world. It will be interesting to see how Khedira fairs in the Premier League, which is much more physical than La Liga. Given Khedira’s main qualities include strength and determination, you could see him becoming one of the league’s best midfielders.
