When Ray Allen decided to become a free agent a report surfaced suggesting that he wanted to wait until training camp was over before he signed.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

While most would probably frown upon such, Allen is a twenty-year veteran and the last thing he needs to participate in is another rigorous training camp. Given that, the Cleveland Cavaliers allegedly informed Ray Allen that he could skip out of camp if he was to sign with the Cavs.

So far Allen hasn’t given any indication on where (or even if) he plans to play for the 2014-15 season and Sam Amico of Fox Sports says the Cleveland Cavaliers have no idea if Ray Allen will be signing or not.

"I don’t know if he’s signing and I can promise you, neither do the Cavs."

Amico did go on to say that LeBron James wants Ray Allen to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers and what LeBron wants, he usually gets. Still, the final decision is going to rest upon Ray Allen and it appears he’s still undecided about a potential return.

What type of role Ray Allen would have on the Cavs is currently unknown though the team is littered with veteran talent like Mike Miller and Shawn Marion, so you’d likely assume Ray Allen’s floor time with the Cavaliers would be minimal.

Going through an 82-game regular season in addition to a postseason is tough enough, let alone dealing with the media coverage the Cavs are to command. That’s a hefty commitment and one we’ll see if Ray Allen is willing to take on sometime in the near future. For now though, it seems as if everybody is left in the dark, possibly even Ray Allen himself.
