Nash is the most likely of the three to call it quits at season end given his injury history, age and lack of desire to play anywhere outside of Los Angeles because of his kids. Tim Duncan meanwhile still seems to be going strong though has previously admitted thoughts of retirement have crept into his head as has Jason Terry.
Whenever that time does come, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban plans to honor the three during their final game played in Big D.
While honoring Steve Nash and Jason Terry seems obvious given their former ties to the franchise, doing so for Tim Duncan is pretty rare as it’s not often you see a rival franchise honor an opposing player. That said not everybody is Tim Duncan and few deserve as much praise as one of the greatest to ever play the game.
Doing so will be an incredibly kind gesture on behalf of Mark Cuban and Dallas Mavericks fans, despite the battles over the past decade and a half are sure to give the legendary power forward a rousing ovation when that time does come.
As for Steve Nash and Jason Terry, outside of Dirk Nowitzki they’re the most distinguishable players who (along with Cuban) helped the Dallas Mavericks go from bottom dwelling franchise to NBA powerhouse.
All in all, just a very cool gesture by Mark Cuban and his Dallas Mavericks.
