It’s been a rough start to the season for the New Orleans Saints, though good news is on the horizon.

Although backup Khiry Robinson has played well in the absence of starting running back Mark Ingram, the plodder who suffered a broken hand in Week 2 could be back on the field as soon as Week 7 against the Detroit Lions.
"Sean Payton said running back Mark Ingram has a chance to play in the New Orleans Saints’ next game in Week 7 at the Detroit Lions, though Payton remained vague on tight end Jimmy Graham’s status during an interview with CBS Sports Radio’s “TBD In The Morning” on Wednesday."
Shockingly Ingram continued to play even after the break, though the New Orleans Saints didn’t want to take any chance of further injury and the running back went under the knife to repair the broken bones. The hope is that Mark Ingram can ditch the clunky cast he’s currently wearing and wear a more flexible (and smaller) version moving forward.
Currently on a bye for Week 6, the New Orleans Saints aren’t willing to confirm Mark Ingram’s status for Week 7 though it seems to be likely that he’ll see the field in some capacity. Sean Payton originally stated the injury wouldn’t keep the running back on the sidelines for very long and was said to be targeting a Week 7 return since Ingram suffered the break.
If Mark Ingram does return to the field, he’ll still be wearing a cast which could be cause for concern regarding ball security. That should only be something that continues for a few weeks though as Payton believes Ingram can ditch the cast completely in a matter of weeks.
