Although Amare Stoudemire has dealt with injury after injury during his tenure with the New York Knicks, the power forward has no plans to hang up the sneakers.

A free agent at season end, Stoudemire told the New York Daily News that he plans to play basketball next season and while he doesn’t know if that will be with the New York Knicks, he’s still excited about what’s to come.
“For sure, this is definitely not the last year for myself. I feel like the work I put in this offseason and the way I feel now is great motivation for me to continue to play,” Stoudemire said. “I want to be healthy regardless. Whether it is my last year or not, my children (are) excited to watch me play, my family still loves watching basketball and seeing me out there, so I do it for them.”
Amare Stoudemire went on to suggest that he’s worked hard to recover from his injuries and isn’t ready to throw away all that effort by deciding to retire, so it appears as if the former NBA All-Star will be playing basketball next year though his destination is obviously unknown.
The New York Knicks have been patiently waiting for Stoudemire’s $22 million dollar salary to come off the books though it’s not known if they’d be open to re-signing the veteran at season end if he was willing to accept a minimum deal.
While oft-injured and a poor defender, Amare Stoudemire did show he can still produce on the offensive side of the ball last season and could be a solid grab if the price is right. That of course would require the forward to check his ego at the door which is probably easier said than done.
