The Phoenix Suns are just a game into their preseason and already Isaiah Thomas is drawing rave reviews.

Acquired in a sign-and-trade deal with the Sacramento Kings, Thomas was deemed expendable in California’s capital for reasons many are unsure of. Some believe it was Thomas’ lack of height, others think it had to do with his desire to score rather than be a more traditional point guard.

Whatever the case, the Phoenix Suns fell in love with Isaiah Thomas and decided to add him to a roster full of players who play a similar style game. Many questioned if the fit would work but so far the results are extremely encouraging and Basketball Insiders believes Isaiah Thomas will flourish with the Phoenix Suns.

"Last season Thomas was an elite scorer, but he’ll need to settle into a bench role with the Suns.  While he’s not much of a defensive force, Thomas can be extremely difficult to guard.  The Suns love their playmakers and Thomas should flourish in Phoenix – but fantasy basketball aficionados should note his individual production is going to drop off from what he was able to achieve as a primary scorer with the Sacramento Kings."

It’s expected that Isaiah Thomas will come off the bench for the Phoenix Suns behind both Eric Bledsoe and Goran Dragic though should still get a hefty amount of minutes as the Suns attempt to divvy up their backcourt between the three.

Thomas should play a similar role with the Suns as he did with the Sacramento Kings though may be used more in a scoring capacity given the Phoenix Suns have additional playmakers, unlike the Sacramento Kings of last season.
