Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston learned on Friday that he will face a disciplinary hearing with Florida State officials to determine if he was in violation of the school’s student conduct code. This comes in the wake of a damning report on Friday that FSU hindered law enforcement’s investigation into the sexual assault allegations against Winston last year.

Mark Schlabach of ESPN.com reports the following.
"Florida State officials notified reigning Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston on Friday that he will face a disciplinary hearing into charges about whether he sexually assaulted an FSU student in December 2012, a source told ESPN.In a letter sent to Winston and his attorney on Friday, the source said, FSU interim president Garnett Stokes and vice president for student affairs Mary B. Coburn notified Winston that he might be charged with as many as four violations of FSU’s student conduct code, two of which involve sexual conduct."
The timing is noteworthy, of course, because Florida State finds itself under fire after Friday’s report. They are under investigation by the Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights to determine if they sufficiently protected the Title IX rights of Winston’s accuser when the alleged incident took place.
Perhaps FSU is hoping to have something to point to as they face scrutiny for their role in blocking the original investigation. “We might have prevented law enforcement from investigating, but look, we found him in violation of the student conduct code! Four different violations, even! Eh eh?”
Here is more information from Schlabach’s report about what the hearing will entail:
"FSU officials have informed Winston that they have identified three individuals from outside the university who are willing to hear the case. Winston and his accuser each will have an opportunity to strike one of the people from hearing the case."
Winston has five days to contact the school to schedule an “information hearing,” the first step in the process.
Oh, and somebody should probably tell Winston’s attorney.
The troubles continue for Jameis Winston.
