Alex Gordon delivers go-ahead home run (GIF)

Alex Gordon has been the MVP of the Kansas City Royals this season. He came through in the biggest possible spot on Friday night, blasting a go-ahead home run in the 10th inning of Game 1 of the ALCS.
A former first round pick who was deemed a bust for a number of years, Alex Gordon has been a star for the Kansas City Royals this season. He has been one of the best defenders in all of baseball while delivering consistent offense for a lineup that often struggled to find enough pop as they fought for a playoff spot.

Gordon had an interesting, eventful, and tremendously successful night as the Royals stole Game 1 of the ALCS away from the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night by a final score of 8-6. The key events of the night included a broken-bat bases-clearing triple, a fastball to the neck, and then a go-ahead home run in the top of the 10th inning.
Once again the Royals found a way to win in extra innings thanks to heroic home runs, both this one from Gordon and a two-run home run from third baseman Mike Moustakas. Check out Gordon’s home run off Darren O’Day below.
The Royals are 5-0 in the playoffs, and as long as they keep coming through like this, it is going to be hard to stop them.
