With the Houston Rockets needing to dwindle down their roster the team is already in the process of making such moves.

One name who won’t make the final cut is Robert Covington who the team intends to release. Before they do though it seems as if the Houston Rockets are attempting to trade the forward and fish are apparently biting.

"The Houston Rockets have decided to release forward Robert Covington while continuing to listen on trade interest, league sources told RealGM.Covington and the Rockets will part either way, allowing the 23-year-old to play for another organization."

A former star at Tennessee State, Covington played in seven games for the Houston Rockets last season though spent most of his time attempting to improve his game in the D-League. Perhaps tiring of such or the Houston Rockets wanting to move on for whatever reason, such will not be the cast this year.

Covington, despite not being drafted did have a handful of teams showing interest in his ability before he signed a contract with the Houston Rockets which is likely why there is some interest around the league. What type of return the Houston Rockets can expect is unknown, though it’s expected to be minimal if he is indeed traded.

The team could opt to simply release him as well though he’s likely to be on a new franchise shortly either way.
