Earlier in the season the Raiders nabbed former San Diego Chargers wideout Vicent Brown in hopes of reinforcing the position though so far that hasn’t proven to be a worthwhile move. Things may prove to have a better outcome with Kenbreel Thompkins though after the Oakland Raiders claimed the reicever off waivers.
Although he’s only been with the organization a few days it’s been said that Thompkins is already turning heads at Oakland Raiders practice.
"What “jumped out immediately was that he is playing at a little bit of higher speed right now than we’ve seen on the practice fields,” Oakland offensive coordinator Greg Olson said.Olson also said that the 6-foot-1, 195-pound receiver “has a tremendous work ethic,” is an “intelligent player” and “has picked up things quickly over two days.”“He just looks like a polished receiver, I guess, that is young and has good, fresh legs,” Olson said."
Of course it’s not as if the Raiders are going to bash a guy they just brought in. If anything, they’re going to hype him up though unlike Vicent Brown, Kenbrell Thompkins has shown an ability to have some success at the NFL level. Granted it was Tom Brady under center who was throwing him passes though with so few options for the Raiders outside of James Jones, there really isn’t any reason not to give the wideout a chance.
As of right now it appears as if Kenbrell Thompkins is still towards the bottom of the Oakland Raiders depth chart (understandably) though may continue to move up if he continues to impress in practice.
