In a story which could make the coldest of hearts melt, the Philadelphia Eagles spent the latter portion of their week honoring a teen battling leukemia after signing the 15-year-old to a one day contract.

Colin Delaney, a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan was brought to the team facility where not only did he become a member of the franchise for a day but spent his afternoon taking a tour of the facility.

The fun didn’t stop there though as quarterback Nick Foles and franchise running back LeSean McCoy surprised the former middle school fullback.

“Best day ever — unexpected and awesome,” Delaney said. “I’m definitely gonna remember this for the rest of my life.”

McCoy and Foles weren’t just there to shake hands though as they played a little football with the teen who engaged in a flag football tilt on the Philadelphia Eagles practice facility field.

"Delaney took the field at the Ronald McDonald camp with his friends while wearing the jersey of his favorite player, Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean “Shady” McCoy. The team was greeted with a huge surprise, when two big roster additions, McCoy and Eagles quarterback Nick Foles, showed up to join them."

The Philadelphia Eagles of course aren’t the only professional sports franchise to honor a young fan battling an illness as we often hear stories of organizations or players extending a helping hand, though they should certainly be applauded for their efforts.

This is a memory Colin Delaney will have for the rest of his life and something he’ll always be able to look back upon and smile.

A very kind gesture on behalf of the Eagles and both LeSean McCoy and Nick Foles. Delaney will also be in attendance for the Eagles’ Sunday night game against the New York Giants.
