Alex Mack was a key member of the Browns offensive line. He and left tackle Joe Thomas are among the best at their positions, and they have helped the Browns to an optimistic 3-2 start, including a 31-10 win over their division-rival Steelers Sunday.
During the second quarter of the game, Mack suffered the injury blocking on a three-yard run by Isaiah Crowell. He was carted off the field, and the injury looked serious.
According to Cleveland.com, Browns fans shouldn’t expect him back this season.

Mack has been durable throughout his career, never missing a snap and starting all 85 games since being drafted in 2009. Right guard John Greco slid over from right guard to replace him, with Paul McQuiston coming in to replace Greco.
Mack, a two-time Pro Bowler, became the highest-paid center in the NFL when he agreed to a five year, $42 million deal including $26 million guaranteed with the Browns. He makes $10 million this season.
The Browns rushed for 158 yards against the Steelers, better than their 143-yard average on the season that ranks fourth in the NFL. The running game with Ben Tate, Crowell and Terrance West running behind a good offensive line, is a big reason why the Browns have played so well this season. Mack’s injury will certainly hurt the Browns’ running game.
