Kevin Durant fractures foot, out 6-8 weeks

Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant is poised to defend his MVP title, but he’ll miss the first 6-8 weeks of the season.
Kevin Durant won the MVP last year after beating the odds and turning in his best season to date. His follow up season will include more beating of the odds as he’ll start from way behind following word that the first 6-8 weeks of his season have been wiped out.

According to multiple reports, including Marc J. Spears from Yahoo! Sports, Durant has a JOnes fracture in his right foot which will require surgery to correct. As a result, Durant is expected to miss 6-8 weeks to start the season off.
Thunder beat writer Darnell Mayberry has the complete statement from the team. In it, Oklahoma City notes that the team was made aware of the injury in practice and are exploring all options moving forward.
Durant’s injury comes in an offseason where Paul George was lost for the season and now Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal will miss 6-8 weeks with a broken wrist. Injuries always seem to put a damper on the NBA each season and the bug is clearly biting early in 2014-15.
