Minnesota is hoping that rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater will be able to get back to 100 percent health, while the Lions have had to take things slowly with Calvin Johnson, who has been hobbled with an ankle injury throughout the season.
The good news for Detroit, however, is that wide receiver Golden Tate has stepped up and done a quality job in relief of Johnson.
“I don’t like to call myself a No. 2 receiver for anyone,” Tate said, via ESPN.com. “Obviously (Johnson’s) the No. 1 for sure, but 1B sounds good.
“In my mind I think the best is yet to come. Hopefully my role keeps increasing and hopefully I keep having an opportunity to help this team win.”
