To say Metta World Peace (also known as Ron Artest and now apparently ‘The Pandas Friend’) marches by the beat of his own drum might be a little bit of an understatement.

More likely, the former NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year award winner is his own band and plays just about every instrument while marching. Still, nobody will ever accuse him of not having a sense of humor as this is the same guy who hits the town in Cookie Monster pajamas and decides to introduce his new shoe with a fluffy panda bear adorning the leather.

Metta World Peace introduced the shoe a few weeks back though few thought he’d actually wear such, but that’s exactly what he did during his debut with the Sichuan Blue Whales of the Chinese Basketball Association.

It’s been previously stated that the stuffed panda bear on the shoe can be removed, so my question is what happens if that bad boy becomes detached and rolls around in the paint? What happens if somebody steps on it and destroys their ankle? I’m guessing the Chinese Basketball Association isn’t overly tight on their uniform rules but that can’t be very safe. That doesn’t make it any less amusing though, however I wish Metta World Peace would just go full panda mode and wear some type of panda costume when he played.

If you’re going to do something, do it big, right? Screw the kicks – come out in a full mascot costume and destroy your opponents in a fluffy bear suit.

Wonder if the New York Knicks are happy Metta World Peace is halfway across the world if they’d still like his ‘uniqueness’ in their locker room.
