New York Knicks news: Andrea Bargnani to have career season?
By Bryan Rose
While there is plenty of reason for optimism in the Big Apple regarding the New York Knicks, forward Andrea Bargnani likely wouldn’t be one of the reasons for such.

But point guard and teammate Jose Calderon has a different view and believes the upcoming season could be a career year for the former No. 1 overall pick.
"Calderon believes he can be the Italian’s healer this season. Calderon said he envisions the 7-foot Italian. his teammate in Toronto, having his career year in 2014-15.Bargnani had started at power forward in the preseason opener, his first game action since late January when he suffered a season-ending torn elbow ligament.“If you’re talented, know how to play basketball, I think this system will find the right spots for him,’’ Calderon said. “He’ll be able to be more comfortable and able to play hopefully the best basketball of his career.’’"
While Jose Calderon is familiar with Andrea Bargnani given their time together with the Toronto Raptors, there’s really been no reason to think the forward will have his coming out party this season considering he’s essentially been a bust his entire career.
He will be playing for a new contract however and given his pending free agent status, perhaps Calderon believes the idea of a new deal will motivate Andrea Bargnani to have an improved season. That of course isn’t likely to help the New York Knicks considering they’re simply waiting for his contract to expire, though if he’s to start the season hot perhaps the New York Knicks can rid themselves of Bargnani before next June.
The triangle offense should help Bargnani play better on offense given it focuses on shooting though it’s likely a case of too little, too late for the big man in New York.
