Calvin Johnson may be out until Week 10
Calvin Johnson could be out for the Lions until the 10th week of the season
The Detroit Lions could be in a world of hurt. Despite sitting atop the NFC North division and coming off of a 17-3 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, things aren’t looking good for the Lions offense. Calvin Johnson, the Lions’ go to wide receiver, may now not be able to return to game action until Week 10.

Jim Caldwell, the Lions head coach, said he didn’t rule out not playing Johnson against either the New Orleans Saints or the Atlanta Falcons.
“I do not hold a medical degree. It may appear I do from time to time to you maybe, but I don’t. The fact of the matter is I leave it up to the doctors. Those are the professionals. They know exactly what it takes.”
Caldwell wen on to say, “Them in conjunction with Calvin and how he feels, they treat not only symptoms of the situation but also the patient as well in terms of how he feels. So they’ll let us know what’s the best path to take.”
Currently dealing with a high ankle sprain, Calvin Johnson has undergone treatment and rest on his journey back towards the field.
For the Lions, his return can’t come soon enough. Despite getting the win on Sunday, the offense looked anemic. It was evident that Johnson makes Matthew Stafford, as the Lions QB missed throws and struggled to get in rhythm. The Vikings defense held a Lions offense to 17 points, despite consistently being in plus position and Minnesota being tired.
Reggie Bush also sat out on Sunday for the Lions, and while Joique Bell carried the rock just fine, the Lions will be looking for playmakers anywhere they can get them against to explosive offenses the next two weeks.
Look for Calvin Johnson’s status to be a week to week issue, as he will continue to sit out of practices until he is able to return in a high capacity.
