Golden Tate: ‘Lions Defense Can Be As Good As Seahawks’

Golden Tate believes that the Detroit Lions’ defense can be as good as the Seattle Seahawks’ defense.

The Detroit Lions are currently sitting at 4-2 and are in first place of their division, and the future looks extremely bright. Wide receiver Golden Tate was signed from the Seattle Seahawks this past offseason, and he has made it very clear that he prefers playing in Detroit. Tate took his comments about how good he sees the Lions becoming to a new level, saying that the Lions’ defense can be just as good as the Seahawks’ defense from last season.

Detroit has a good defensive line, but they simply don’t have the type of talent in the secondary that the Seahawks have and had last year. They simply don’t seem to have the talent to be as good as the Seattle defense was last season, but they could have a better defensive line. One of the main issues with the Lions’ defense for quite some time has been their secondary, but they are currently rated as the second best defense against the pass.

Tate personally has made a major impact for the Lions so far this season, catching 38 passes for 495 yards and a touchdown. He has been a great vocal leader for the Lions as well, and has brought a winning attitude to the team. Needless to say, the Lions are very happy that they signed him this past offseason.

All of that being said, the Lions will have to continue playing consistent defense in order to prove that their defense is as good as the Seahawks. They currently have the second rated pass and run defense, but many don’t see that continuing throughout the remainder of the season. It’s always good to have a player like Tate who is willing to come out and vocally support his teammates even if he could catch some negative comments from the media and fans.
