Kevin Durant is unsure of how his foot injury will be treated.

When it was discovered that Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant had a Jones fracture, many suggested the star would miss 6-8 weeks of action, the typical recovery time after a surgery for such an injury.

However, it appears Durant might not get surgery. The forward is currently debating on how his injury will be treated and a non-surgical route is being considered, according to Sam Amick of USA TODAY Sports.

"Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant is still considering treatment options for the Jones fracture in his right foot and a decision about whether or not to have surgery won’t likely be made on Monday, according to two people with knowledge of the situation.(…)The area where Durant’s fracture took place (his fifth metatarsal) has limited blood flow, and – as explained to USA TODAY Sports — that makes the prospect of recovering without surgery particularly unappealing."

"Still, one has to wonder if the 26-year-old Durant is tempted to heal without going under the knife while hoping his youth helps with the healing process."

This is certainly an interesting development, but one has to figure that Durant will still elect to go the traditional route and have surgery.

Durant averaged 32.0 points, 7.4 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game and won the NBA’s MVP award this past season. KD led the Thunder to the Western Conference Finals, but the team was ultimately defeated by the San Antonio Spurs.

The then-Seattle Supersonics selected Durant with the No. 2 overall pick of the 2007 NBA Draft.
