Reggie Bush won’t miss his first chance to play against his former team, the New Orleans Saints, when they come to Ford Field to play the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Reggie Bush, who sat out Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings, said he will “for sure” be on the field when the Detroit Lions host the New Orleans Saints next weekend.

Bush was the No. 2 overall pick of the Saints in 2006 and played five seasons in the Big Easy, including winning a Super Bowl ring after the 2009 season.

But Bush’s production never matched his draft status in New Orleans, in part because coach Sean Payton used a platoon in the backfield.

Bush rushed for 581 yards in his second season in New Orleans and in five seasons had 2,090 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also caught 294 passes for 2,142 yards and 12 scores.

But in stops in Miami and Detroit, Bush has proved he can be a feature back when given the chance.

Bush rushed for 1,086 yards for the Dolphins in 2011 and for 1,006 in 14 games last season in Detroit. He just missed the four-figure plateau for Miami in 2012, finishing with 986 yards.

"“Oh yeah, 100 percent,” Bush told the Detroit Free Press of his chances of playing against the Saints. “Next week for sure.”"

Bush was held out against the Vikings with a sprained ankle and they may need him against New Orleans. Theo Riddick aggravated a hamstring injury in the win at Minnesota and couldn’t finish the game, leaving Joique Bell to carry the load.
