Los Angeles Lakers head coach Byron Scott has scaled down practice due to players like Kobe Bryant complaining of tired legs.

After the Los Angeles Lakers were destroyed by the Denver Nuggets on Sunday night, it seemed as if head coach Byron Scott was a bit frustrated with himself.

Scott has admitted to pushing the Lakers very hard in practice and suggested he may have pushed them too hard. Now the veteran head coach seems to be having second thoughts in regards to how much effort he’s requesting from his players in non-game action as he’s decided to scale back practice.

“I have to be smarter about pushing them that much harder,” Scott said. “It’s time to take the reins off a little bit.”

Multiple players suggested they had ‘heavy legs’ during the Sunday blowout which likely attributed to their poor play. Scott understood such though isn’t completely ready to abolish some of his difficult practice tasks despite scaling a few back.

“They’ll start feeling so much better about their legs and being in much better shape,” Scott said. “Even though this sounds a little bit like madness running them the way we run them, it’s for the betterment of the team. At the end of the season, we’ll be fresh.”

Earlier during training camp Kobe Bryant, who is known for his sometimes obsessive work ethic, suggested that he had never been put through a practice as tough as Scott’s who’s doing everything he can to improve the Los Angeles Lakers on the defensive end of the court.

There is a happy-medium though and the last thing Scott wants to do is push his Lakers players over their limit, so it makes sense that he’s decided to give the guys a bit of a breather before he completely exhausts them before the regular season even tips.
