Andre Drummond of the Detroit Pistons is expected to have a breakout season and should likely make the NBA All-Star game.

Although Detroit Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy has stated he won’t start Andre Drummond, Josh Smith and Greg Monroe in the same lineup, it seems safe to assume that Drummond will be the player who is entrenched in the starting five.

The former UConn big man came out of college looking relatively raw though has quickly emerged as not only one of the best big men in the Eastern Conference, but in the NBA all together.

That’s something the Detroit Pistons have taken notice of along with Joel Brigham of Basketball Insiders who believes the young center/power forward will be a ‘monster’ this season.

"As for Drummond, he’s right there. No way he misses the All-Star game this year, especially as hard as Van Gundy has those guys working. He’s going to be a monster this year. Superstar breakout campaign is coming, no doubt."

After watching Andre Drummond with the Pistons last season and working with Team USA during the summer, it’s hard to disagree with such a notion as the UConn product is one of the most rapidly growing players in the NBA.

More importantly for the Detroit Pistons is that Andre Drummond appears more than happy to be playing in Motown and doesn’t appear interested in leaving, something that can’t exactly be said for teammate Greg Monroe.

Despite the praise, there are still plenty of warts in Drummond’s game and he’ll need to continue to work on those, though his ceiling is just about as high as anybody you can find. Assuming he’s to fuffill his promise (which he appears on track to do), the Detroit Pistons could have a much needed superstar player on their roster.
