When the Cleveland Browns selected Johnny Manziel in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, many fans clamored for the Heisman Trophy winner to start from day one.
According to a story written by Mike Florio, Hoyer remains focused on his next game but wasn’t 100 percent committed to a long-term deal if Manziel is on the roster.
Hoyer told reporters that he wasn’t sure where the story came from and didn’t want to talk about the future at this moment.
“Well, I don’t know who got that report, but that’s something that I have an agent to handle,” Hoyer said Wednesday. “Right now, I’m focused on Jacksonville.”
The Browns are off to a 3-2 start with Hoyer behind center but the questions remain about next season. While Hoyer hasn’t been playing at an MVP-level, he is doing enough for the Browns to be competitive.

Ed Werder also reported that the Browns have made no attempt to talk long-term with their starting quarterback:
The Browns quarterback has thrown seven touchdown passes and only two interceptions so far this season while posting a 99.5 quarterback rating.
Hoyer knows that Manziel is the quarterback of the future in Cleveland but is doing his best to lead the Browns to a playoff appearance in 2014.
