The Kansas City Royals won another low-scoring affair in Game 4 of the ALCS, defeating the Baltimore Orioles 2-1 to advance to the 2014 World Series. The final out of the ALCS came on a groundball to third base.

Royals’ third baseman Mike Moustakas has had a number of moments of glory during the 2014 MLB playoffs. After a tumultuous season and start to his career more generally, Moustakas has come through in a number of spots under the brightest lights. To bring that all full circle, he got to be the man to record the final out of the ALCS to send his team to the World Series in front of a rabid home crowd at Kauffman Stadium.

As was the case in Game 3 of the ALCs, this game came down to a 2-1 lead for the Royals in the last three innings. Once again it was the ridiculous Kansas City bullpen putting the game away, with Greg Holland logging another save.

The adrenaline might have gotten to Holland at the beginning of the inning, as he issued a walk. He settled down after that, however, and eventually got the final out here via the groundball.
