Buffalo Bills general manager Doug Whaley said this week that the agent for wide receiver Mike Williams asked for permission to seek a trade. Williams says it wasn’t his idea.
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Mike Williams said Wednesday that he didn’t ask for—and doesn’t want—a trade.
Via the team’s official Twitter account, Williams said:

Per
, general manager Doug Whaley said he was asked earlier this week by Williams’ agent for permission to try to arrange a trade for his client.
Williams, a healthy scratch last week in Buffalo’s loss to the Patriots, is in his first season with the Bills after four seasons in Tampa Bay. He has eight catches in 18 targets this season, for 142 yards and one 80-yard touchdown that has the effect of skewing his stats a lot.
Williams, 27, was one of Tampa Bay’s top receivers for his first three seasons after the Bucs took him in the fourth round of the 2010 draft out of Syracuse.
In his first three seasons for the Buccaneers, Williams had 65, 65 and 63 receptions and scored 22 touchdowns.
But he missed the final 10 games last season with a hamstring injury after notching 22 receptions for 216 yards and two scores.
Buffalo acquired Williams, a Buffalo native, in a trade this spring.
