NBA star Kevin Durant will be re-evaluated in six weeks after foot surgery Thursday.

Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant had surgery on his right foot Thursday. The surgery was successful and the 2014 NBA MVP will be re-evaluated in six weeks.

From Thunder.com:

"The Thunder, Durant and his representatives jointly decided for surgery to be performed by Dr. Robert Anderson with Thunder medical personnel present at the OrthoCarolina Foot and Ankle Clinic in Charlotte, NC. Durant will be re-evaluated in six weeks, at which time a further update will be provided."

The Thunder discovered Durant had a Jones fracture in his right foot after he disclosed to them discomfort after the team’s October 11 practice. Durant was originally expected to be out for 6-8 weeks. With him not to be evaluated until six weeks from now, the idea of the Thunder star actually returning to the court in six weeks seems optimistic.

Durant’s brother tweeted out a photo of the forward before the surgery took place.

Durant averaged 32.0 points, 7.4 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game this past season. Durant led the Thunder to the Western Conference Finals, but the team was ultimately defeated by the San Antonio Spurs in six games.

The then-Seattle Supersonics drafted Durant with the No. 2 overall pick of the 2007 NBA Draft.
