The New York Knicks are likely to name Quincy Acy their starting power forward ahead of Amare Stoudemire.

While Carmelo Anthony is all but assured a spot in the New York Knicks‘ starting rotation, his small forward slot is only position that isn’t up for grabs. That leaves four spots open and it’s very possible Quincy Acy could find himself starting alongside Melo according to Marc Berman.

Acy, who was acquired by the Sacramento Kings has improved his game significantly during the offseason and now brings with him a relatively solid jumper. Combine that with his very solid defense and it’s possible he could beat out both Amare Stoudemire (who’s been bathing in red wine lately) and Andrea Bargnani for the starting power forward spot.

"In a bizarre turn of events, Quincy Acy, who may have the NBA’s longest beard, and one wilder than James Harden’s, has emerged as the Knicks’ leading candidate at power forward. It is seemingly the lone position battle still remaining."

Earlier in the week New York Knicks president of basketball operations Phil Jackson stated he believes Jose Calderon will win the starting point guard duties while Samuel Dalembert will do the same at center. Head coach Derek Fisher has not confirmed such though they appear to be the most logical of choices.

As for Quincy Acy, the former Baylor stud hasn’t been given many opportunities during his short NBA career however he’s shown a tenacity and toughness that makes him a fan favorite no matter where he plays. That grit will certainly have Knicks fans falling head over heels for his game.

That’s not to say he’s void of any warts and he’ll have his boneheaded plays where he believes he’s a better offensive player than he really is, but Quicny Acy has likely found a home with the New York Knicks.
