Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith is off Twitter and one shouldn’t expect to see him back on anytime soon.

The explosive wideout first tweeted on Oct. 6 that he was done with the social media site.
Now, Smith is explaining his decision and giving us all a lesson on Twitter trolls.
From ESPN’s Jamison Hensley:
"“At the end of the day, what’s on my Twitter feed and what’s going on with the world, I don’t think that should be on the same level,” Smith said.(…)I’d kill you on Twitter, so I had to stop,” he said. “Somebody said something inappropriate to me, my wife said I wasn’t being a very good example for my kids.”Smith understands people are going to say what they want. He has just chosen to ignore them now.“Internet courage is like a Cover 2 corner,” Smith said. “When you got safety over the top, you feel better about yourself.”"
Smith has had some great one-liners over the years, but comparing Twitter tough guys to a Cover 2 cornerback might be his best yet.
Smith has been dominant during his first year as a Baltimore Raven, racking up 573 yards and four touchdowns just six games into the season. The Carolina Panthers drafted Smith in 2001 and he remained with the franchise until the team released him this past offseason.
