One Royals fans gives us the sounds of the parking lot as the Royals clinch first World Series berth since 1985.

The Kansas City Royals and their fans are partying like its 1985. No, not for the same reason that Bowling For Soup liked 1985, but for something much more important. Their beloved Royals are back in the postseason for the first time since their 1985 Championship season. They earned that berth with a 2-1 victory on Wednesday afternoon to complete the ALCS sweep of the Baltimore Orioles.

This was so important that lifelong Royals fan Paul Rudd invited everyone to a party at his Mom’s house!

In fact, the Royals are feeling it so much that they have not lost a postseason game since October 23, 1985. That’s right, they are the first team to begin a postseason 8-0. That includes the Wild Card game against the Oakland Athletics, the ALDS sweep of the Angels, and the ALCS sweep of the Orioles.

No team has had a perfect postseason since the 1976 Cincinnati Reds, but they only had to win seven straight games to win the World Series. The Royals would have to win 12 straight to have a perfect postseason.

Kauffman Stadium was the place to be on Wednesday afternoon if you were a Royals fan. Even those that were not willing to pay the outrageous ticket prices to get in at the last minute lingered in the parking lot waiting to celebrate with their team. After 29 years, can you blame them?

So one Royals fan got us as close to the celebration of the clincher as he could from his spot in the parking lot.

He may not have been able to make it inside, but as anyone who is a fan of a team that has seen them through lean years can attest, it was totally worth it!
