Vontaze Burfict Will Appeal $25,000 Fine
According to ESPN NFL Insider Ed Werder, Vontaze Burfict will seek to appeal a $25,000 fine handed down to him for twisting the ankles of Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and tight end Greg Olson.
Both plays are going to be tough to dispute as there is pretty clear evidence that each instance of ankle twisting occured.

Panthers head coach Ron Rivera sent tapes of the plays in to the league office for review this week. Although we do not have the official copies, let us consult the video of the incidents as provided by YouTube.
There is a decent amount of evidence there, however in the first clip with Newton, one could most certainly argue that the intent is much clearer.
Another thing that does not help Burfict’s case is that he is considered a repeat offender. He led the team in penalties last season with eight separate calls for unnecessary roughness alone. And despite only having played one full game this year, he still is tied for the team lead yet again.
Burfict has also reportedly been warned that further actions of this nature will resort in “escalating discipline.”
If the NFL wants to avoid a public relations nightmare, it will strike down this appeal rather quickly. There is virtually no reason why it should even receive a hearing.
