Alex Morgan Suffers Scary Ankle Injury; Carted Off Field (Video)

United States women’s soccer star Alex Morgan injured her left ankle in a World Cup qualifying match against Guatemala on Friday night.
In Friday night’s World Cup qualifying match against Guatemala, United States women’s soccer star Alex Morgan suffered a scary left ankle injury.

As Alex Morgan was making a run for the ball, she rolled her ankle and went down in obvious pain. The injury occurred in the 38th minute with the United States leading Guatemala, 1-0, in the CONCACAF Womens Championship tournament.
It was the same ankle that Morgan previously injured that led to a seven-month layoff that recently ended in June.
Alex Morgan was replaced by Christen Press.
After being looked at by the team doctor’s, Morgan was placed on a stretcher and carried off of the field.
There is no official update from USA soccer on Alex Morgan’s injury, but we will provide you with more information when it becomes available.

UPDATE: Morgan has been officially diagnosed with an ankle sprain, though the severity of the injury has not been determined.
