The Denver Nuggets could move guard Arron Afflalo if rookie Gary Harris continues to impress

More from Denver Nuggets

In the offseason, the Denver Nuggets pulled off a deal to bring back guard Arron Afflalo two years after dealing him to the Orlando Magic in the Dwight Howard deal. That trade netted the Nuggets swingman Andre Iguodala, who signed with the Golden State Warriors last year.

Arron Afflalo is coming off of the best season of his career so many believe he could help the Nuggets return to the postseason.

Kevin Pelton of ESPN.com believes the Nuggets could consider dealing Arron Afflalo because of Gary Harris.

"I think they’ll continue to look for 3-for-1-type consolidation trades, but those can be tough to find. I’m intrigued by Brian Shaw calling Gary Harris already the team’s best perimeter defender. With Arron Afflalo potentially in a contract year, does that suggest the Nuggets could move Afflalo and elevate Harris? Worth watching."

Arron Afflalo has been a good defender in the past and had a fantastic season on offense last year but may not be the difference between a trip to the playoffs and being back in the lottery. Last season, the Phoenix Suns went 48-34 and they missed out on the postseason. Several teams made upgrades and the New Orleans Pelicans, much like the Nuggets, will return several players from injury.

Arron Afflalo averaged  18.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 45.9% from the field, 42.7% from beyond the arc and 81.5% from the free throw line. In his seven-year career, he’s gone for 11.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 45.9% from the floor, 42.7% from three and 81.5% from the charity stripe.
