While the scoreboard doesn’t reflect it, Saturday has been a difficult day for the Maryland Terps as they’ve been penalized for some rather odd things and have lost their quarterback who went down with an injury.

They almost lost a wide receiver as well considering he was absolutely blistered by multiple Iowa defenders.

It all took place during the third quarter when the receiver ran a route across the middle of the field with Maryland nursing a three-point lead. Everything looked normal and had there been a good throw it’s likely the wideout not only would have avoided getting smashed but could have picked up some yards after the catch.

That didn’t happen however as the throw was a bit high forcing the receiver to slow down his progress and come off his feet. He ended up making the grab though paid for it in painful fashion as two Iowa Hawkeye defenders arrived at the same time and unloaded on the Maryland wide receiver.

How he actually maintained control of the ball through that hit is pretty impressive as not only was he plummeted by two separate defenders, both seemingly attempted to embed him into the ground given their momentum was coming forward.

Thankfully everybody got up and looked just fine so consider it nothing more than an awesome football hit which likely knocked around a few brain cells in the process.
