New York Jets GM John Idzik calls Percy Harvin a ‘dynamic’ player after acquiring the wide receiver in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks.

To say Percy Harvin’s time with the Seattle Seahawks was a struggle would be a bit of an understatement. Sure, there were moments when he looked like the All-Pro talent many believe he can be but there were also plenty of disappointments, especially given the price paid to acquire the wide receiver.

On Friday that disappointment hit a head as the Seahawks decided to trade Harvin to the New York Jets who officially announced the deal and introduced the ‘dynamic’ Harvin to the media.

“Percy is a versatile, dynamic player who has been productive on offense and special teams,” said Jets GM John Idzik. “We’re excited about adding him to the Jets.”

In effort to clear a roster spot for Harvin the New York Jets decided to release veteran wide receiver David Wilson.

As for Harvin, as one of the quickest players in the NFL he can be a lightning bolt if he’s able to get his hands on the ball. Of course with suspect blocking and quarterback play from the New York Jets, you wonder if Percy Harvin will be able to fulfill such a big obligation given his struggles with the Seahawks and their much more complete roster.

Still it’s expected that Percy Harvin will see an increase in targets with the New York Jets and could thrive as Geno Smith’s go-to receiver running short routes. Of course those often breed big hits and injury, something Harvin has struggled with during his NFL career so the Jets will need to make sure they don’t put their ‘dynamic’ acquisition in harms way.

The deal was a bit of a risk though the reward could be significant. If things don’t work out, the team can release him at season end with minimal financial impact.
