In what was one of the best
games of the day, the
topped the
24-23.
The Saints were able to build a 17-3 lead on two Drew Brees touchdown tosses, one to Austin Johnson and one to Kenny Stills. The Lions got a huge score later in the third quarter on a six-yard run by Joique Bell. That made it it 17-10 Saints at the at the end of the third quarter.
The Saints added two more Shayne Graham field goals and led 23-10 with just 5:24 to go. It then took the Lions just six plays to score as Matt Stafford found Golden Tate for a 73 yard touchdown.
On the next possession, Drew Brees was picked off by Glover Quinn, setting the Lions up on the 14. Six plays later, Matt Stafford found Corey Fuller for a fix-yard touchdown and the Lions’ defense would hold on for the win.
