Updated NASCAR Sprint Cup Standings: Eliminator Eight Set
By Josh Hill
NASCAR is in the playoff stage of its season, as after the GEICO 500, only eight drivers remain alive in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
Sprint Cup Standings have changed again after NASCAR raced the GEICO 500 at Talladega on Sunday afternoon. Four more huge names were eliminated from contention this year with two of those names being titans of motorsport. Both Dale Earnhardt Jr and Jimmie Johnson were eliminated on Sunday afternoon along with Kyle Busch and Kasey Kahne.

Keselowski earned an automatic bid in the next round by winning at Talladega, something that Junior was hoping to pull of himself. A wreck in the final laps of the race though saw his chances of winning the Sprint Cup go up in smoke as he was unable to pull off the victory he so desperately needed.
Instead, it will be Brad Kelesoski moving on to next round along with seven other drivers who make up the Eliminator Eight stage of the chase. Joey Logano still leads the pack but is still in a dead heat with the likes of Kevin Harvick, Matt Kenseth, Jeff Gordon, Ryan Newman, Carl Edwards and Denny Hamlin.
Here’s a look at the updated Sprint Cup Standings, as the Eliminator Eight field has been set in stone:
RK | DRIVER | POINTS | MONEY | WINS | POLES | TOP 5 | TOP 10 |
1 | Joey Logano | 4000 | $6,113,765 | 5 | 1 | 15 | 20 |
