It seems as if Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden has had enough of quarterback Kirk Cousins.
After two more turnovers (interception and fumble), Gruden pulled the plug on Cousins in the third quarter of their game against the Tennessee Titans in favor of third-string quarterback, Colt McCoy.
While that may be amusing enough, that was only the start of the laughs as just moments later, McCoy ended up throwing a 70-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Pierre Garcon. Fitting with the hilarity was the fact that the touchdown gave the Redskins the lead.
There’s no word on how long the ‘benching’ will last for Kirk Cousins though he’s been nothing but a turnover machine since taking over the starting quarterback job for Robert Griffin III.
Speaking of RGIII, earlier in the week Jay Gruden stated that Griffin would return to the starting quarterback position once he was mentally and physically ready though did not give an indication as to when that would actually happen. Clearly though it appears as if Kirk Cousins’ time as the starting quarterback is on the brink of coming to an end if it already hasn’t.
Should be a very interesting week for the Washington Redskins moving forward, especially if Colt McCoy can keep up his solid play.
