Veteran NBA point guard Ronnie Price appears to be a ‘lock’ to make the Los Angeles Lakers roster.

When the NBA’s free agent period began most in Southern California would have likely laughed if a player like Ronnie Price would have made the final roster, but that appears likely to happen.

While fans may have dreams of LeBron James or Carmelo Anthony gracing Hollywood and Vine that wasn’t the case as the Lakers struck out in free agency and ended up trading for Jeremy Lin and pickup up Carlos Boozer off the amnesty wire.

They also brought in Ronnie Price who seems assured of a roster spot come the regular season.

Price couldn’t have landed in a better scenario given the current status of Steve Nash who yet again is dealing with injury. That leaves only Jeremy Lin and Jordan Clarkson as the lone healthy point guards on the Los Angeles Lakers roster which has all but assured Ronnie Price of a roster spot.

It also helps that Kobe Bryant is a big fan of Ronnie Price, which he has previously stated.

As for Ronnie Price’s role on the Los Angeles Lakers, he’s likely to be the third-string point when Steve Nash is out with injury. Given that it’s unlikely he’ll get any type of significant injury barring an injury to Lin or Clarkson who appear to be the two who’ll most benefit from any Steve Nash downtime.

Price hasn’t ever been much more than a bench player regardless though has proven himself to be effective when given an opportunity. The Lakers could do much worse in regards to rounding out the back portion of their guard rotation.
