Buffalo Bills running back Fred Jackson said he will not need surgery on his injured groin, and mentioned the typical timetable for NFL players to return from the injury is four weeks.
The banged-up Buffalo Bills got some encouraging news regarding the status of running back Fred Jackson. Jackson was injured after a low hit in the first quarter of the game against the Minnesota Vikings, and left the game, but Jackson said he will not need surgery on his groin. He said the typical timetable for the injury is approximately four weeks.

The Bills also lost running back C.J. Spiller for the rest of the season to a broken collarbone in the same game, so the news that Jackson will return is good for the Bills. Anthony Dixon was the only healthy running back for the Bills on Sunday, a 17-16 Bills victory, but the team also has fourth-string back Bryce Brown available for next week.
At age 33, Jackson is the oldest running back in the NFL, and he signed a one-year extension with the Bills this offseason, so he will be back in Buffalo for the 2015 season, health permitting. Jackson has 227 rushing yards and 261 receiving yards with two touchdowns this year.
