Victor Oladipo Could Miss Orlando Magic’s Season Opener
By Bryan Rose
Orlando Magic guard Victor Oladipo could miss the season opener as he recovers from a sprained MCL.
It’s likely to be a long season for the Orlando Magic as they attempt to complete their rebuilding process, though it could be much longer if star sophomore Victor Oladipo misses any significant amount of time with injury.
That’s why the franchise is taking a cautious approach with their star talent who has been dealing with a sprained MCL over the past few weeks.
Not wanting to risk any further injury or make the situation any worse than needed, it appears as if his status for the Orlando Magic season opener could be in doubt.
While it would be awesome to see the former Indiana product on the court come Opening Night, if Victor Oladipo is not completely healthy there is simply no reason for the guard to be on the floor.
In terms of a silver lining, it doesn’t appear as if Oladipo will be far away from a return if he doesn’t play on Opening Night. He has already returned to practice and has been said to have participated in a ‘vigorous’ workout so it seems as if he’d only miss a few games at most if he’s to sit out the Magic’s first game.
Oladipo, who played point guard during his rookie season (and did quite well given the circumstances) has moved to shooting guard this season with the addition of Elfrid Payton. The move should make the already dangerous Oladipo even more scary for opposing defenses.
The Orlando Magic open their regular season scheduled against the New Orleans Pelicans on October 28th.
