The last thing an NBA player needs to be dealing with before the regular season tips off is tendinitis in his knee, but that’s exactly what Washington Wizards star John Wall is currently experiencing.
Despite the discomfort, Wall doesn’t seem overly concerned about the troublesome injury and doesn’t feel it will impact his game.
“I’m not worried about it at all,” Wall said. “I’ve dealt with tendinitis my whole career so you just play through it. . . . There’s no excuse for me not to play. I just felt like it was a time to give other guys an opportunity to play and also a time to let it heal and prepare myself for the regular season.”
While he may have dealt with the tendinitis for his whole career, it can routinely flare up and become a problem and that could force the All-Star talent to miss games. So far though it doesn’t sound as if the injury is hampering John Wall too much and he’ll be able to play through it with it impeding his game.
The biggest concern has to be how long will it be before John Wall needs rest for the pain or possibly miss an extended period because of the tendinitis?
Wall says he plans to play in the Washington Wizards preseason finale, a testament to the knee not being that big of a worry, though head coach Randy Wittman wasn’t as eager to declare John Wall’s status as a go against the New York Knicks.
Last year was the first time in John Wall’s career that he was able to complete a full 82-game season without missing any games due to injury. Hopefully it’s more of the same for he and the Washington Wizards moving forward.
