The Denver Nuggets dealt guard Arron Afflalo to the Orlando Magic in a four team that involved that also involved
that sent Dwight Howard to the
and Andre Iguodala to the Nuggets.
After a year in Denver, Andre Iguodala left for the Golden State Warriors while Arron Afflalo prospered playing with bad teams in Orlando.
In the offseason, the Magic dealt Afflalo back to the Nuggets for guard Evan Fournier and a second round pick which turned out to be former Iowa Hawkeyes’ guard Roy Devyn Marble.
The Nuggets are hoping Arron Afflalo will play a larger role this time around after he show how versatile of a scorer he can be in Orlando. Arron Afflalo is hoping for the same.
“I’m fine,” Afflalo said via Christopher Dempsey of the Denver Post. “I’m just trying to stay healthy, mentally understand where I can put my effort come opening night. But obviously my aggression level will be a lot higher than it is now. Right now I’m using my minutes to kind of survey the situation, survey the environment and feel my teammates out. But when it officially counts, there will be (added) aggression there.”
Arron Afflalo was clearly a fantastic addition but getting back to the playoffs in the loaded Western Conference will be a chore. The Phoenix Suns won 48 games last year and missed the postseason.
Arron Afflalo is coming off of the best season of what has been a solid career – he averaged 18.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 45.9% from the field, 42.7% from beyond the arc and 81.5% from the free throw line last season. He’s averaged 11.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 45.9% from the floor, 42.7% from three and 81.5% from the foul line in his seven-year NBA career.
