Michael Vick has replaced Geno Smith for the New York Jets against the Buffalo Bills in today’s AFC East NFL match-up.

The New York Jets have gotten off to an incredibly slow start against the Buffalo Bills this afternoon, and that is due to Geno Smith already throwing three interceptions in the first quarter. That might very well be the last chance that Smith gets, as Rex Ryan has decided to replace Smith with Michael Vick. Vick has played in one game so far this season, but admitted afterwards that he was not prepared to play.

Smith has been struggling all season long, but three interceptions in three drives against the Bills simply isn’t acceptable. It will be intriguing to see whether or not this is a short-term replacement just for the rest of today’s game, or if Vick is the starter for multiple weeks. Either way, the Jets are getting tired of seeing this type of play from Smith, and Vick will get his chance to show what he can do.

Vick has some weapons to work with, and both Percy Harvin and Eric Decker have to be happy to be moving on from Smith. The Jets aren’t going to be a playoff team this season, but they can’t afford to continue getting blown out due to poor quarterback play. It would be wise for them to move on from Smith and look for a new quarterback this coming offseason.
