The NFL says plans to expand the number of games in Europe is “inaccurate”.

There’s no denying the NFL‘s recent success in London as they’ve held at least one game across the pond every year since 2007.

They’ve increased that number to three games this season and a report from the Daily Mail suggests the NFL is preparing to set up shop for five London games in the relatively near future.

However the league is disputing such a report and states they have no plans to expand the current format, calling it ‘inaccurate’.

While NFL Europe didn’t go over very well it’s clear the star attraction the NFL brings has been a formula that works and only appears to be growing on a yearly basis. Given that it does seem to make some sense that the NFL could be looking into expanding their influence in London though for now that doesn’t look to be the case.

There has also been chatter suggesting the NFL could eventually expand and allow a franchise to base itself in London though at this point that seems far fetched.

The NFL isn’t the only professional sports league looking abroad as the NBA has suggested they are looking into potential European expansion though they could be looking to add multiple teams.

Logistic issues are the main problem for both the NBA and NFL though such is a bit easier for football given the week between games. Still, it’s not an issue easily resolved and the NFL looks as if they will keep their current slate of three games abroad and not increase the total.
