Atlanta Falcons coach Mike Smith is not worried about getting fired.

The Atlanta Falcons are 2-6 and have lost five straight games, leading many to believe the team’s head coach Mike Smith could be on his way out soon.

However, Smith said Monday that he is not concerned about his job status, according to ESPN.

"“No,” Smith said. “None whatsoever. We’re going to do what we’ve done for the last six-plus years and prepare each and every week like we know how to do it. And I’m going to continue to do that until Mr. Blank tells me otherwise.”"

The Falcons are fresh off one of the more embarrassing losses defeats this NFL season, as they lost 22-21 to the Detroit Lions on Sunday after taking a 21-0 lead in the game.

Considering that, their 2-6 record this year and 4-12 record last year, it’s fair to criticize Smith. The coach even admitted Monday that he hasn’t been doing a good job.

"“I haven’t done a good enough job, plain and simple,” Smith said. “Because ultimately, it’s my responsibility. So I haven’t done the job that I need to do. I’ve let down the players, the coaches, and the fans thus far. But I think what we plan on doing, we plan on getting hot and making a really good second half of this season.”"

Still, Smith can’t really concern himself with all the rumors at this point. All he can do is focus on coaching this team and trying to right the ship, which it appears he is doing.
