New York Jets wide receiver Eric Decker says the team is not bad but rather makes stupid mistakes.

At just 1-7 and losers of seven straight, one could assume the New York Jets are a bad football team. But they’d be wrong, at least according to wide receiver Eric Decker who doesn’t believe such a sentiment.

Despite having the third worst net points score in the league (only behind the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers), the New York Jets wide receiver says the team isn’t bad but rather do stupid things which puts them in a poor position.

“We’re not a bad football team,” Decker said. “We just do stupid stuff. It’s something that, at this point, it’s frustrating. All you can do is carry on and keep chopping the wood.

“I think it’s the mistakes – that’s the biggest thing I’m going to take from this game. When you turn the ball over so much, when you have penalties, when you just do stupid stuff, you’re never going to win a football game.”

It seems as if Eric Decker is attempting to suggest the New York Jets don’t lack talent but struggle with the mental aspect of the game.

He does seem to have a point however it’s not as if the Jets are overflowing in Pro Bowl players either so it seems to be a bit of both as not only are the Jets rather dense in regards to their football smarts but they’re not overly talented either.

It’s one thing to be a disappointment because you lack talent, but at 1-7 it’s hard to argue that you aren’t a bad team.

The New York Jets may not be the worst team in the NFL but they’re certainly near the bottom of the pack.
