The best memes from around Week 8 in the NFL

We kick off the best NFL memes of Week 8 as well as Week 8 itself, with the Detroit Lions and Atlanta Falcons playing before a sold out crowd in Wembley Stadium in London… at 9:30 in the morning.

The ode to Will Ferrell is awesome, and so was watching football at 9:30 in the morning. Not to mention the fact that an NFL game played in London was actually competitive for once. The Atlanta Falcons are wishing it wasn’t competitive, actually, because that leads us into the second meme from NFL Week 8.

Falcon Down

It’s actually a great illustration of Atlanta’s second half vs. the Lions.

Matt Ryan tosses two touchdown passes and handed off to Steven Jackson for another score to put the Falcons up 21-0 heading into halftime. Detroit’s offense couldn’t get anything going against Atlanta. Until the second half.

Detroit opened up the second half with a field goal followed by a Golden Tate touchdown that put the score at 21-10 still with four minutes left to go in the third quarter.

From there, Matt Prater connected on a 20-yard field goal to make it a one-possession game for the Lions. When Theo Riddick scored on a pass from Matthew Stafford with less than four minutes left in the game, Detroit went for and failed on the two-point conversion that would have tied the game at 21.

In the end, the Lions got the ball back and watched as Prater connected on a 48-yard game-winning field goal as time expired.

The Falcons’ defense surrendered 22 straight points in the second half and Atlanta fell to 2-6 on the season, with Detroit improving to 6-2.

Just an ugly loss for Ryan and the Falcons.

Patriots Hunting Bears

This perfectly sums up how the Chicago Bears’ day went vs. the New England Patriots. The Bears entered Gillette Stadium having lost three of their last four, and they ran into a New England team that had won its previous three games in a row. What resulted was a 51-23 beat down of Chicago via the Patriots, with Tom Brady throwing for 354 yards and five touchdowns.

Three of those TDs went to Rob Gronkowski, who led the team with 149 yards receiving and nine receptions. Again, Jay Cutler turned the ball over twice and couldn’t get the ball to his pal Brandon Marshall, who finished Sunday’s matchup with just three receptions for 35 yards. The Bears look terrible right now, and the biggest issue is under center.

Those Uniforms Though

The Pittsburgh Steelers busted out those horrific looking uniforms against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday afternoon.

Maybe they should rock those more often, because Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers put a 51-34 whooping on Andrew Luck and the Colts.

Big Ben set multiple records on Sunday, including most passing yards (522) and touchdowns (6) in a single game for Pittsburgh while becoming only the second QB in NFL history to throw for 500+ yards, 6 TDs and 0 INT in a single game.

Antonio Brown was stellar again for the Steelers, hauling in 10 catches for 133 yards and two touchdowns.

Luck did his part for Indy, throwing for 400 yards and three touchdowns, but not even the ’86 Bears defense could slow down Roethlisberger and the Steelers’ offense on Sunday.

But seriously… those uniforms.
